Training
Dr. Hudson went to medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans where she also completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology. She did additional away rotations to gain further training in bariatric endoscopy including at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. She is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and obesity medicine. She also has an MPH in epidemiology which she obtained prior to medical school.


Patient Care
Dr. Hudson runs an obesity medicine clinic at University Medical Center New Orleans for patients with high BMIs (60-100 or more) who are working towards getting bariatric surgery. She also works in the LSU Gastroenterology clinic where she sees patients with foregut issues such as dysphagia or complications after a foregut surgery. She is an endoscopist and performs upper endoscopy, colonoscopies, small bowel endoscopy, and esophageal manometries.
Research
Dr. Hudson's research interests are primarily focused around anti-obesity medication and bariatric endoscopy. These include the effects of incretin mimetics on gastric emptying and the use of bedside gastric ultrasound to evaluate the stomach contents prior to anesthesia, the endoscopic management of complications of bariatric and foregut surgery, and esophageal dysmotility after bariatric surgery.


Educator
Dr. Hudson is an academic physician training the healthcare providers of the future at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She teaches general gastroenterology, esophageal dysmotility, obesity medicine, nutrition, and bariatric endoscopy. She is also a research mentor to trainees.
Administration
Dr. Hudson serves as the first Medical Director of Obesity Medicine the UMCNO Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Clinic which is a Center of Excellence. She also serves as a service line leader, specifically the inpatient medical director for various medical subspecialties which includes the endoscopy unit.
